MARKETING IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS

     Many people want to go into business for themselves. Over the past several decades, I have seen business after business come and go, some of them leaving signage and facades behind. To me, it is like seeing a ghost. The bridal shop where I rented my tuxedo went out of business several years ago, and even though something else has moved into their retail space, they had this big round sign that was too hard to dismantle or replace. Every time I pass by there, I think of the young woman who was so happy to rent the tuxedo to me; how she was so happy to be starting her own business, and how now all that is left is this crazy looking sign with the paint chipping off.

What people do not seem to realize is that being successful in business is a lot more than just having a good idea and enough money to get started. They need to market. They need to convince people that what they have is the best thing for the need. Most people say that they hate sales, and then get into a business that requires sales and marketing. Unless you are going to be a part of a dream seen by someone else, you had better get used to the idea that you need sales and marketing. If it is not something that you can do yourself, take the time to find a marketing firm that can do the job for you. It is absolutely the key to any success in business.
